Words That Move You: "Where the Sidewalk ends"

Words That Move You-1

Reflection:

I enjoyed this particular piece of work. It was very easy to write, and I was able to reminisce about one of my favorite poems of all time. Analyzing the rhetorical devices that Shel Silverstein helped me to understand why using rhetoric is important and effective. He used words to hide the meaning of his message in plain sight. I think the life of the poem was extended due to this technique. It almost forces people to go back and analyze what he said. I really had to think about the message Silverstein wished to convey. I feel I did a good job of analyzing his work for the use of rhetorical devices. I also think that I nailed the message right on the head. Writing this assignment did not really change the way I write, but it will help me in the future. It will be the framework for how I analyze other works of writing for the use of rhetorical devices. Rhetorical devices are an important tool for writing. They make the writing interesting to read, and forces the reader to reread the work.
